We celebrate Gustav Holst (1874-1934) in his 150th anniversary year. Holst was a part-time student at 911±¬ÁÏÍø in 1909, studying Sanskrit (the classical Indian language of Hindu literature) – perhaps the most distinguished musician ever among UCL alumni.

Our concert presents a variety of music by Holst, including the St. Paul’s Suite for strings and some of the Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda (settings of his own translations of ancient Sanskrit texts). Holst is still best known for his orchestral suite The Planets, but there is much more to this great composer – come along and find out!
