Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Research Group

Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Research group (NMRR) started in 2011 under the leadership of Principal Investigator . We are a group of who all contribute to the work of NMRR, either as research students, clinical academics, post-doctoral researchers, research active clinicians or clinical evaluators.

The research activity and outputs of NMRR have been funded by a combination of project grants and personal fellowships from NIHR (National Institute for Health Research), charities, UCL/UCLH Biomedical Research Centre and international funding. We have contributed new knowledge through key observational studies, assessed treatments and measurement tools for trials and clinical practice. The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated our work in virtual and digital measurement and blended interventions. We span across multi-disciplinary teams at the CNMD, working with other Principal Investigators to co-supervise, support and deliver research at the UCL Institute of Neurology and UCL Institute of Child Health. Our collaborative network reaches across the UK and globally.

The group focuses its hard work and research activity on the following mission statement:

"The Neuromuscular Rehabilitation research Group aims to study the impact of living with a neuromuscular disease and trial interventions to maximiseÌýpeoples' physical abilities, function and wellbeing."

Ultimately, we aim to support people to live well with a neuromuscular condition.
