How to prepare
Speaker profiles will be provided for each event, allowing you to do some initial research before attending.ÌýThis will help you ask insightfulÌýquestions at the events themselves.

We will also run aÌýregular series of lunchtime talks on effective networking at events as part of ourÌýCareer Essentials programmeÌýwhich provide tips and advice on building your professional networks.

- Build your CV with UCL Student Media
Tuesday 8 October, 5:30pm-7pm
Are you interested in gaining some media work experience whilst at university but not sure where to start? Join us for a special event which will showcase the range of opportunities you can get involved in with UCL’s Student Union Media Societies.
This on-campus event will feature a panel discussion with current students working acrossÌý from UCL Student Union societies to share how being involved in these organisation can be a great way to start your future media career.
You'll get the chance to find out more about the opportunities offered by each society, how to get involved and to ask questions and get more in depth knowledge. The panel / Q&A will be followed by a networking session to give you a chance to speak to them individually and get even more detail on how you can get involved with these societies. You will have the chance to sign up to become a member of the societies at this event.

- From Campus to Career: Using SU Societies to launch your Media Career

This online event will feature a panel discussion with current students working across Journalism, Science writing, TV and Online Media from various societies (final line-up to be confirmed) with UCL SU Arts & Media Coordinator co-ordinator to share how being involved in these clubs can be a great way to start your future media career.
The panel / Q&A will be followed by online networking to give you more detail on how you can get involved with these societies.
- Digital Media Careers Panel

Join us in a special panel discussion hosted by UCL Careers, where we will be taking a look at the future of the industry with a focus on Digital Media careers. Featuring alumni and professionals working in areas such as Digital Marketing, Podcasting and Social Media,Ìý this discussion will offer an insight into the variety of roles in this space, the key skills required for future media careers as well as general tips for getting into the industry.ÌýÌý
This event will take place live on campus and will not be recorded. There will also be an opportunity to network with panellists and take part in a Q&A.ÌýÌýÌý

- Lights, Camera, Action: CV Reviews & Mock Interviews with Sony Pictures

Thursday 1 February, 1pm-3:50pm
Representatives from Sony Pictures join us to give students interested in a career in media feedback on CVs and a chance to practice interview skills. This is a great opportunity to get an insight from industry insiders on how to make the most impactful applications and make the right impression in interviews for a very competitive sector.
During the 20-minute appointment please inform the employer if you’re attending for guidance on an application or for a short mock interview. ÌýPlease bring your CV/draft application (either a printout or have it ready on a laptop screen) and a job description for a role you’re in the process of applying/interviewing for, or something that would be of interest in the near future. Please book only one slot (multiple bookings will be deleted).
- Behind the Scenes Press Pass: Journalism Workshop with News Associates

Tuesday 6 February, 12pm-2pm
Are you interested in pursuing a career in Journalism? Or simply want to get a taster of working In the field? Then attend our Journalism Workshop event as part of the Media Sector Insight Programme.
In this practical workshop run by press agency and journalism schoolÌý,Ìýyou will get experience of writing an article in a mock, 'real-life' breaking news exercise. There will also be an opportunity to take part in a Q&A to find out more on training and careers in Journalism.
- Careers in Traditional Media

Thursday 29 February, 12pm-1:30pm
Interested in exploring the breadth of roles traditionally associated with the Media Industry? Join us for an online panel discussion featuring UCL 911±¬ÁÏÍø and Professionals working in different areas of the sector including Publishing, Journalism, Advertising, PR, TV and Film.
This event will offer an insight into the variety of careers you could take on in the industry, similarities and differences between each area, as well as general tips for pursuing a career in these fields. There will also be an opportunity to take part in a Q&A with the panellists.
