The Bartlett is number 1 in the world in 2019 QS World Rankings by Subject

The Bartlett has been ranked the top institution in the world for Architecture / Built Environment Subjects in the renowned QS World Rankings.

The Bartlett has moved up the QSWorld Rankings by Subject to reach the number one spot for Architecture / Built Environment.With a score of98/100 overall (up from 97.1 last year), The Bartlett has overtakenMIT (The Massachusetts Institute of Technology), who were last year's global number 1. We also scored 100 foracademic reputationand 92.7 for employer reputation.

Thenews comes as the faculty is celebrating 100 years of The Bartlett name, and 100 years of global impact, with astorypublished every day for 100 days onthe campaign website and events running throughout the year. Welcoming the timely achievement, Professor Alan Penn, Dean of The Bartlett, said:

The QS ranking is the most comprehensive worldwide assessment of university subjects - they reflect the opinions of academic colleagues and employers from all over the world as well as looking at citations to our research, and so are really quite robust. I am really pleased to see The Bartlett Faculty achieving the number one ranking in architecture and the built environment as we celebrate our centenary.”

The result isone of a number of successes for UCLin the 2019QS World Rankings by Subject: the universityhas 10 subject areas ranked in the global top 10. Aside from The Bartlett’s number one spot, other highlights includeUCLInstitute ofEducation, which has retained thenumber one spot for Education, Archaeology, where UCLtakes the number three spot, and Anthropology, where UCL is ranked fifth.

Published annually, the QS World University Rankings cover 48 subjects by collecting opinions from thousands of academics and employers. They alsoanalysemillions of research papers and citations over a five-year period tomeasure the impact of publications from institutions,as well as theirproductivity.
