DPU alumna contributes to Egyptian Pavilion in 16th Venice Architecture Biennale

30 May 2018

Salma Nassar

We are extremely proud of Salma Nassar, graduate of MSc Building and Urban Design in Development class 2017-16, for the amazing contribution to Egyptian Pavilion in 16th Venice Architecture Biennale. The Egyptian Pavilion ‘Roba becciah: The informal city’ responds to the theme of the Biennale – FREESPACE –Ìýby exploring how urban markets redefine the concept of free space.

Salma’s dissertation project,Ìý‘Transit modes and the reincarnation of urban spaces into markets’, has been developed under the supervision of ProfessorÌýJulio Davila. ItÌýcritically reflects on the typologies of urban markets in the city of Cairo and tackles the permanency and temporality of markets and their dispositional attributes in relation to the urban morphology. We are very pleasedÌýto see the collaboration of Salma in the Egyptian Pavilion.
