EFID works to impact infrastructure (energy, water and sanitation) services for marginalised people. 聽She was awarded the prestigious BBOXX/Royal Academy of Engineering Senior Research Fellowship to improve access to energy in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Dr. Parikh and her team of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers use mixed-method approaches for interdisciplinary research focusing on sustainable and resilient infrastructure, environmental improvements and business models for resource constrained settings (slums and rural communities). Dr. Parikh has successfully championed the need for high quality research and engineering education to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She founded the MSc programme in Engineering for International Development. She has been recognised as an EWB Changemaker, is a Fellow of Institution of Civil Engineers and sits on the board of Engineers Against Poverty and Happold Foundation.

Dr Parikh said: 鈥淚 am delighted to join BSCPM. In collaboration with BSCPM my goal is to make our centre more interdisciplinary, with stronger focus on climate change, energy economic modelling, infrastructure governance and behaviour change.鈥�

Professor D鈥橫aris Coffman said: 鈥淚 am thrilled to welcome Priti Parikh to BSCPM. Her work on infrastructure, especially in water, sanitation and energy provision to informal settlements and rural communities in Africa and Asia, as well as on developing the empirical base with which to link infrastructure and SDGs, is enormously important to fields as diverse as welfare economics, development economics, infrastructure delivery, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
