About the Eversheds Form Filling Clinic
Eversheds Sutherland has partnered with the UCL Integrated Legal Advice Clinic (UCL iLAC) to help clients complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) forms. This collaboration involves volunteer lawyers from Eversheds Sutherland holding virtual appointments with iLAC clients to help them听with their PIP applications, mandatory reconsideration forms, and review forms.听This partnership aims to provide practical support to clients to help them navigate the听PIP application process.听
Role Description听
Student volunteers will provide in-person support to clients who come into the UCL iLAC office to attend their appointments with Eversheds Sutherland solicitors. The Eversheds solicitors will join the meeting virtually, and will guide the clients through the PIP form-filling process, ensuring they have the necessary assistance at each step. Students will be present throughout the client appointment, providing support during the meeting and assisting with听follow-up work as required.听Please note that this is not a remote role.听
Time Commitment
As a volunteer, you will be part of a select group of students who may be asked to assist with client meetings as they arise. You will be notified when a client meeting is scheduled and can opt in based on your availability. This role is ideal for students who are interested in gaining client-facing skills, but require a flexible commitment. For each appointment, you will be required to come to the iLAC office in-person in Stratford.听

This framework allows you to reflect on the听skills听gained during your placement, aligned with the听听Completing it earns you a Certificate of Commitment to听Pro听Bono, acknowledging your dedication and skill development. Your participation will help you document and showcase the valuable competencies you've developed, however, please note that participation in the PBSDF scheme is entirely voluntary and will not affect your placement in any way.听
Eligibility听
This role is open to students in all year groups, but we will prioritise students Year 1 LLB students.听
We are looking for volunteers who can demonstrate:
- Friendliness and approachability;
- A commitment to or an awareness of social justice issues;
- Willingness and ability to be flexible, open minded, and non-judgemental regarding clients and their problems;
- Attention to detail
- Awareness of the potential needs of, and demands placed on, vulnerable clients;
- Reliability and commitment, good interpersonal and communication skills, including written and oral;
- Strong administrative skills.
