Safe Use of Fire Extinguishers
Course Description:
We are pleased to offer you this extremely practical course, which will provide designated Fire Evacuation Marshals with experience of using fire extinguishers safely and effectively.

This instructor led course involves handling and using fire extinguishers in an open space. Please ensure that you wear suitable clothing i.e. closed, low or flat-heeled shoes and non-flowing garments which are suitable for the weather conditions on the day.

This course is 1 hour theory and 1.5 hours practical.
Objectives:
By the end of the workshop you will have:

  • Revised the immediate actions on discovering a fire
  • Revised your knowledge of the causes of fire
  • Gained knowledge of the principles of combustion
  • Identified the classes of fires for extinguishing purposes
  • The ability to select and use the correct fire extinguisher for the type of fire to be fought
  • Gained knowledge of the safety precautions when using fire extinguishers

Intended Audience:
Fire Evacuation Marshals or people who have been designated to use a fire extinguisher
