Transition
mentors are involved with guiding groups of new students through their first
few months at 911±¬ÁÏÍø. They work to promote student academic development as well as
wider institutional engagement, including areas such as volunteering, Global Citizenship
and the Student's Union.
Dr Marco Angelini, Transition Manager at 911±¬ÁÏÍø, explained: "Mentors are the most important part of the UCL Transition Programme; they support, encourage and inspire new students to make the most of their time at 911±¬ÁÏÍø. This year, our Mentors initiated a wide range of activities, from study skills workshops to gallery visits and school outreach initiatives - they should be really proud of what they've achieved.
"The UCL Transition Programme is being used widely around the UK as a model for how to integrate students in university life - that's mostly through the leadership and efforts of our mentors."
Professor Anthony Smith, Vice-Provost (Education) will be presenting the students with certificates and special awards. There will also be a drinks reception, during which the student mentors can mix with staff involved in supporting student engagement.Ìý
