Description
The thesis workshops provide an opportunity for all students in the thesis stage of their EdD to explore key issues and concerns about the research process in a supportive peer community. The great majority of the topics listed will be looked at in connection with analysing specific sections of previous thesis candidates’ work. On occasion, contributions from recently successful candidates, talking about their own EdD journeys are presented.
Additionally, the workshops will:
- Provide regular opportunities for participants to informally present their ‘work in progress’, and to benefit from constructive criticism by peers and a tutor who is a very experienced supervisor. This particular activity can be viewed as an important component in developing your confidence in talking about your research and, in the traditional phrasing ‘defending your thesis’; in other words, you will essentially be preparing for the challenge of your viva.
- On demand, address issues around such important practical elements of the thesis stage as the contribution of the Independent Reader.
The thesis workshops are optional but strongly encouraged.
