Description
This M Level module is embedded within the research informed Teaching and Learning Principles project (TLRP; Pollard & Wyse, 2023) and the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) Teaching and Learning Toolkit. The module provides the opportunity to explore critical aspects of contemporary learning and teaching, such as exploring how children are grouped in schools, developing anti-racist pedagogies and considering the difference between effective and mechanistic pedagogy and assessment practices.
This module aims to:
- empower you with a critical, research and enquiry-led approach to teaching and learning based on current, recent and relevant research/publications;
- maintain a commitment to social equity and social justice for the whole range of school students, teachers and schools; working towards a culturally diverse society in which the rights and responsibilities of all are recognised and promoted in teaching and learning;
- provide you with an excellent basis for professional practice as a classroom teacher that meets and extends beyond the statutory requirements of the standards for QTS;
- enable you to become a critically reflective practitioner and academic writer at M Level.
The assessment for this module is a 5,000 word essay (subject to change) - as well as engagement and attendance to Learning and Teaching taught sessions.
