The first collective publication of the AFRAB Project was the special issue âAfrican Legal Abolitionsâ published in Volume 42 of the Law & History Review. Some contributors to the Special Issue presented their articles at a panel at the American Historical Associationâs Annual Meeting in San Francisco on 4-7 January 2024.

Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) of Dakar, Senegal, organised a major conference to celebrate the lifetime achievements and contributions of Professor Ibrahima Thioub, Senegalese historian, retired professor of history at UCAD, and former President (Recteur) of the Université Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar (2014-2020).

AFRABâs researchers met to discuss research in progress in Ethiopia, review findings in different Ethiopian regions to date, and start preparing the activity âAfrican Abolitionist Voicesâ that would eventually result in an exhibition at the University of Dar es Salaam in November 2023 and then in an expanded, Ethiopia focused exhibition at the Institute of Ethiopian Studies in October 2024.
