Project Summary
The Dharavi Biennale is a two-year process leading to an exhibition听in 2015: the Alley Galli Biennale. It blends art and science to share听information on urban health and to showcase the contribution of听the people of Dharavi to Mumbai's economic and cultural life.
The听Biennale project has been organized by SNEHA (Society for听Nutrition, Education and Health Action), an NGO working to听improve the health of women and children in Mumbai's informal听settlements.
With four themes - art, health, recycling and vitality -听the Biennale invites Dharavi residents to meet, educate themselves听on urban health, learn new skills, and produce locally resonant听artworks that are authentic, honest and relevant.
