Global Justice and Ethics
As a reaction to the limitations of the liberal globalisation orthodoxy, there is a growing interest in normative issues, embodied in terms such as legitimacy, transparency, accountability, and fairness. This research thematicÌýengages in normative inquiry on democratic legitimacy in global governance structures, defined as the acceptance and justification of shared rule by a community. ItÌýalso contributes toÌýan emergent research agenda onÌýthe mechanisms and instruments which may enhance these values at the global level, enabling stakeholders to hold those that govern accountable for their actions.
