Jessamine Chiappella

Having completed a PPP degree (Psychology with Philosophy) at Oxford University, Jess enrolled on a PGCE at Westminster College and then worked as a teacher of primary school children in the U.K. and Italy. She then worked as an assistant educational psychologist before completing the MSc. in educational psychology at 911±¬ÁÏÍø in 2004-2005.

Jess went on to work as an educational psychologist in Buckinghamshire, including as part of a multi-professional team working with hard to reach families, working with colleagues to deliver parenting programmes, TAMHs and nurture group training, as well as offering supervision, a contribution to multi-disciplinary assessment in the early years, consultation services and Video Interaction Guidance. Jess became a senior educational psychologist, leading on the Nurture Programme, and introduced Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) training to the county.

Jess completed her continuing professional development doctorate at 911±¬ÁÏÍø in 2014, with research focused on Part Time Secondary School Nurture Groups, and she has disseminated this work at conferences and through a publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Jess currently works as a senior educational psychologist in Oxfordshire, where she continues to support relationship-focused interventions, like ELSA and Nurture Groups. Jess has a wide range of professional interests, including: Nurture Groups, ELSA, Bilingualism, Working Memory, Autism and demand avoidant profiles, ADHD and Emotional Based School Avoidance.
