Akash is a Senior Fellow of theÌý (IFG). He leads , with a current focus on the impact of Brexit on the Union and relations between the four nations of the UK. He has previously carried out research on subjects including coalition and minority government, civil service accountability, and the role of parliamentary select committees.

Akash's recent publications include (October 2019, IFG), (July 2019, IFG/Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust),Ìýand (December 2018, Oxford University Press/British Academy).

Akash is a regular commentator in the media on constitutional matters and has appeared as an expert witness before parliamentary committees at Westminster, Edinburgh and Cardiff.

Prior to joining the Institute for Government, Akash was a researcher for four years here at the Constitution Unit, where he worked on projects including theÌýDevolution Monitoring ProgrammeÌýand the Nuffield-fundedÌýGovernance of ParliamentÌýproject.

Akash has also worked at the British Academy and London School of Economics, and he is an Associate of the at Edinburgh University.
